Gloomcross Hills

Gloomcross Hills is a tall grassland full of mysteries. The peaceful smooth grass softly sways with the breeze, camouflaging some of the most dangerous beings in The Ghostly.
Through its spacious lands lie close-knitted communities that have lived alongside the odd entities, such as the fatum and the water spirits, for many generations. Experts even say that these entities may have been one of the first to inhabit the area.

Geography & Climate
The Gloomcross Hills is a seemingly endless grassland, covered with small hills and scattered lakes. Alongside the mysterious creatures, closed-off villages protect different groups of families. Each of these villages is trapped within a small enclosure of cleared tall grass. In the center of these compounds, small homes can be seen buried within the hills surrounding the compound. The homes surround a communal bountiful garden, grown for the community, and used as a tribute to appease the hungry beasts.
This area is located far from the stormy mountains of The Castle of Bloodroot, but Gloomcross Hills continue to feel the overcast of their clouds. Soft sunlight can be seen shining down through the scattered gray clouds and a light breeze is felt as night approaches. The early mornings and evenings openly welcome the heavy fog that steals one's vision, when walking through the tall grass. As the fog slowly makes its way for the early afternoon, the clouds thin into a delicate layer above Gloomcross Hills.
Records in The Archive have only been able to track down 3-4 small villagers to date. Further investigations continue in hopes of learning more about the mystical grasslands.
Culture & Inhabitants
The inhabitants of Gloomcross Hills are known to come from old families full of wariness and tradition. Outside this neighborhood, many feel that the residents are off-putting and hostile. This can be strongly felt through their imposing beliefs, as well as the need to stick to their customs that have been passed down from generation to generation.
One of these customs can be clearly heard through the chimes of giant golden bells, at the first sign of sunlight in the morning and again in the evening when the fresh fog rolls in. Another custom strictly followed is keeping handfuls of dirt in one's pockets. This is to keep the water spirits at bay when walking near bodies of water.
The people of Gloomcross Hills are known to be wary and slow to befriend those outside their village. Although when befriended, they eventually show their warmth and unconditional love that comes with their traditions. Their love and care run deep within their veins, in the hopes to keep their friends and family away from the dangers that lurk within the tall grass.
